sinangag
So you have your handy rice cooker, but you don't have the energy nor the time to cook fried rice in the morning. Here's what you can do. Take a cup of cooking oil (canola, corn, vegetable, as long as you don't use Olive Oil-- it burns too fast), and 4 to 6 cloves of garlic. (To the undomesticated, a clove is a butil, or one individual portion of a whole bulb.) Chop the garlic into small bits. Heat the oil in a small fying pan and wait until it's very hot. Add the garlic and let it fry. Once all the bits have risen to the top, turn off the heat and watch until the garlic bits get toasted. Do not overfry or else your garlic will taste bitter. Let the garlic cool. Put aside in a bottle which can accommodate a spoon easily. Whenever you feel the urge to have fried rice, add two tablespoons of the cooking oil with the garlic to a cup of rice, season with salt and pepper, and enjoy!

Good for potluck parties!
Cook as much rice as you need. Fry 2-3 scrambled eggs and cut into small pieces. Dice 2-3 chinese sausages, add half a cup to a cup of frozen mixed vegetables and microwave for 30 seconds, saving the oil that it sweats. Add hotdogs or sausages if desired. Add 2 tablespoons of garlic in oil as described in the recipe for sinangag per cup of rice, add all ingredients listed, season with salt and pepper and serve.
